Why? We emailed Peter to find out.
Melba, my fiancee, is from Iligan City in Mindanao. My first trip there was in July 2011, and then my second trip was in March 2012. Being in the Philippines was the best experience of my life; on both trips I was really touched by the hospitality shown towards me. But while I was there, I noticed lots of young children of many different age ranges asking me for money, which I gladly gave. These children were homeless; and just wanted food and a start in life. This experience made me very upset and sad- for me to walk 20 miles is nothing compared to what these young children have to deal with on a daily basis. If by walking 20 miles I can help the Philippines in a small way, through raising money, then so be it.
From Malcolm Conlan, who I am walking with on June 5th.
3. Is this your first 20 mile walk?
Yes. I’ll be fine, don’t worry.
My training is going well. I cycle a lot,do weight training and eat a balanced diet...well, most of the time （haha）.
5. Any advice for our readers who are thinking to start their own JustGiving fundraising event for Sambat Trust?
