We caught up with Malcolm to see how it’s all going.
I first went to the Philippines when I was 18 and fell in love with the country and the people. I’m always struck by how friendly, polite and welcoming everyone is. After nearly 30 visits to the country,I feel as a British man married to a Filipina, it is my absolute duty to help. I believe that all children should have the same educational opportunities, regardless of what part of the world they happen to be born in.
I heard about Sambat Trust through Facebook and the great work and dedication of the charity founder, Anthony Mariano. Social media is a very powerful tool in helping to promote events and charities. I’m always happy to feature Sambat Trust on my website.
Yes this is the first time I’ve ever walked 20 miles in my life. Two years ago, I decided to walk 10 miles to help raise money for the victims of Typhoon Sendong, which struck the Philippines so badly. By the time I finished the walk, I was limping and couldn't walk for a week!
4. How's your training going?
Watching The Filipino Channel（TFC）and eating chocolate- so not too well I'm afraid（haha）.
It’s so easy to do. And Sambat Trust has been very supportive. I looked up the charity on the JustGiving website and set up a page, all started from there really. Started off as a bit of a crazy idea, however a friend of mine on Facebook,Peter Watson, has decided to walk with me and also support the charity.
